This winter has created a sudden change in the Church Orchard plans. The grape had been growing through a hemlock scrub and jumping up onto a Yellow Plum. The plan had been to cut the Grape from the Plum but let it continue to cover the hemlock, not the best thing to do but something we could do with our available resources.
In the past few weeks I discovered we have lost some trees.
The big one fell on the Plum and the Plum got broken right at ground level, because of this I am going to cut the hemlock and grape right back and then build a arbour across the area to string the grape out horizontally instead of climbing.
